Lil’ Speakers Union is the sibling to the S.P.I.T (Spellbinding Performers In Training) course. LSU introduces students to the ancient West African art of the Griot; the community storyteller. Scholars will examine the art of Oration in musical forms, sermons, speeches and more. The skills of the Black orator will be analyzed through primary and secondary sources via audio, video, and text formats. Scholars will leave equipped with literary weapons of warfare for this second Reconstruction era, building on the contributions of their ancestors.
